Henley Fours and Eights was cancelled this weekend due to weather and ground conditions but it didn't stop Molesey Veteran Head taking place, and it didn't stop Wallingford Rowing Club taking a victory either. Wallingford's masters raced the 3k course winning the mixed Mas.D-E coxed eights. They took the fastest time in their category and finished 12th overall.

The race takes place downstream from Sunbury Lock to Hampton Church and this is the second year running that crew members Becky Waller, Andy Knight and cox Mark Wood have won the Mx.Mas.8+ category.

Huge congratulations to Wallingford Rowing Club's Rachael Haycock who was recently presented with an award for her outstanding volunteer work. Over the past 15 years, Rachael has played a significant role on the Wallingford Rowing Club events committee. Since 2001 she has been entries secretary and has seen the club’s three key events all double in size since she first started working on them. The regatta alone has grown from a medium river regatta, to the largest one day regatta in the UK. In addition to all of this, she has been volunteer manager at the World Rowing Championships 2006 and Junior World Rowing Championships 2011 and she will also be a volunteer at the rowing events for the 2012 Olympics. Rachael has been an invaluable member of the team and Wallingford is very pleased that her contribution has been recognised by British Rowing.

Thames Valley Trial Head took place this weekend with rowers flocking to compete after the Christmas break, sometimes in all three divisions. Taking place on the Olympic rowing course, the event is held at Dorney lake and raced in three divisions over 1900m. Wallingford's senior women and juniors came away with the best results of the day. The women won the women's senior coxed four and came second in the women's senior coxless pair category. Wallingford's junior women won the J17 double and coxless four category while the junior men took first place in the J15A double.
