Personally Identifiable Information is collected by Wallingford Rowing Club on the basis of contract and consent based on the need for managing members data and the ability of the club to enable members and competitors at club events to further their rowing careers.
As a members club, Wallingford Rowing Club has a need to store personal data to ensure that funding from members is provided and that fees are paid commensurate with the member’s employment status and age. In the normal running of the club there are occasions where personally identifiable information is recorded in minutes.
As a competitive rowing club, one of the goals of the club is to develop individual athletes and to promote the club to attract competitive athletes. Coaches may store personally identifiable information and special information related to performance to aid in the selection process of crews and to monitor progress of individuals, to ensure both the individual athletes and club crews are progressing successfully. Coaches may retain this data for their own records to compare current athletes with past athletes and to ensure their coaching skills are progressing.
In addition to this, competitor information may be passed to other parties to enable athletes to compete in events managed by British Rowing Affiliates or other athletic bodies.
Furthermore as a competitive rowing club we will advertise successes within our own website, newsletters,  newspapers and social media to promote attract new members to the club. This may include naming crew members from the club and members from other clubs who are competing with Wallingford Rowing Club members.
Rowing club squads may use social media to provide information to crews or coaches on performance, crew selection, attendance and events. Individuals who wish to receive communications through these services are doing so at their own consent, and under the jurisdiction of the social media provider. Removing consent to use these service will reduce the ability to communicate with squads that communicate in this way.
As a rowing club that provides very successful events to the rowing community, it is necessary to collect information on competing athletes and coaches to aid with the management of the event, within the British Rowing Online Entry systems and email communication with administrators and coaches to ensure the success of the events. This necessitates the use of personally identifiable information for the competitors, administrators and coaches, as well as volunteers helping us to run such events.


We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

We will only store personally identifiable information for the shortest time possible to enable it to fulfil its obligations to the individual members, athletes, competitors, coaches and volunteers to be successful in providing service to its members and the rowing community.
